Chest, Stomach & Rib Tattoos!
Chest & Stomach Tattoos — Powerful placements and bold lines
Perhaps a placement that was once thought of by people that were more heavily tattooed, the chest and stomach areas have become very popular and are an excellent choice for bold traditional and Japanese style tattoos!
The front body - A powerful placement
Chest & stomachs are actually quiet versatile. Our minds usually automatically think of extra large pieces for those areas but the chest, especially the upper chest near the collarbones, is a great choice for smaller pieces, particularly symmetrical ones!
Getting two smaller symmetrical tattoos on the upper chest area is also a good way to start getting tattooed on the front body. You can stop there or, if you really like it, continue onto your stomach and/or ribs and lower stomach area.
Chest & Stomach Tattoos — Placement Options
Chest & stomach tattoos are going to offer different options when it comes to placements:
Upper chest and collarbones — a great spot for smaller symmetrical tattoos or long pieces that go along the collarbones, from one shoulder to the other
Middle chest & ribs — Ribs are a lot of fun as you can chose many different sizes and side ribs are also a great choice for stand alone pieces. The middle chest is also nice for smaller pieces such as sternum tattoos.
Middle and side stomach / lower ribs — Similar to the upper chest area, the middle stomach and lower side ribs are a great spot for smaller pieces, directly on the centre of the stomach, just below the sternum, or as side tattoos on the lower ribs. But it’s a placement that also offers the option to create a bigger tattoo that can cover the entire upper stomach and lower rib areas.
Lower stomach — Lower stomach tattoos are not as common as the other placements we’ve discussed and, if someone has a tattoo in this area, it’s usually part of a bigger tattoo that covers most of their front bodies. However, it’s still a great choice for a bold line or Japanese style tattoo.

Getting a Chest, Stomach or Rib Tattoo on the Central Coast
As I’m sure you know by now, Zach is a bit of an expert when it comes to large scale work such as back pieces, chests, stomachs, full leg sleeves and full arm sleeves. If you’re interested in getting large scale work with Zach, the best option is to book in a free face to face consultation with him. That way, he can plan your entire project ahead, show you a rough design and then tattoo you over multiple sessions with you knowing what the end result will be. Stomach and chest tattoos are not as gentle as arm tattoos, they can be painful and uncomfortable to sit through, so if you have a large tattoo idea in mind, it’s good to do it in multiple sessions.
